Angie Klitzsch (Mat Apprentice)
Angie was first introduced to Pilates when she ordered Mari Winsor’s
VCR tapes(!) after a compelling infomercial, and has never looked back.
A competitive swimmer and soccer player growing up, Angie suffered a stress
fracture to her lower vertebra during high school that resulted in her
wearing a back brace for months. After years of lower back pain, and resolving
herself to limited mobility, she circuitously discovered Pilates through
ballet. With a focus on core strengthening and body awareness, Pilates
has offered her a way to live pain free and feel strong and fit.
Angie began practicing intensely at Pilates Indy, Inc. after the birth
of her first child in 2007 and credits classes at the studio with helping
her get back into shape and maintain a healthy mind/body connection. In
a desire to share her love of Pilates, Angie decided to work on becoming
an instructor and started her certification with Body Arts and Science
International in February 2011. She is currently working on her apprenticeship.
Angie has a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy and History from The University
of Notre Dame, a MPA in Nonprofit Mgmt. and a MA in Philanthropic Studies
from Indiana University, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer. She currently
works full-time as a Senior Grants Officer with the Central Indiana Community
Foundation, and is pursuing a PhD in Philanthropic Studies. In her spare
time, Angie enjoys spending time with her boys (husband and two sons),
traveling, reading, and having friends over for backyard BBQs and adult
beverages.
