Up coming workshops include...

May 12th
12:30pm-6:30pm Functional Anatomy for Pilates with Jamie (Northside)

In this 6 hour course, we will discuss basic anatomical terms, become familiar with the skeleton, joint mobility and the major muscle groups and how they affect skeletal movement. Normal posture will be defined and then we will discuss common postural deviations, the joints which are affected and therefore the muscular imbalances which may be present in such scenarios. Understanding anatomy in a way that is three-dimensional and addresses movement is vital to cuing movement accurately as well as fixing improper movement patterns. Students will learn how muscles work together to create more complex movements as well as gain an appreciation for how body position relative to gravity can change the muscular work around a joint.

Returning late summer
Sunday Yin Yoga Workshops with Kelly (Northside)

Yin Yoga is the practice of long-held, supported, relaxing yoga poses that target the connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments and tendons. The focus of this workshop is releasing the body from chronic constriction due either to injury or repetitive motion. We pair this physical release with an exploration the circulation of chi or prana, our life force energy, throughout the body along the twelve energy meridians recognized by Chinese Medicine. The intention of Yin Yoga is to be relaxing and rejuvenating. It is appropriate for all levels. Mats and yoga blocks will be provided. Students may wish to bring a pillow for the purposes of modifying asanas.

Reserve your space at the studio or online.
